Alongside the main talks there are two seminar slots during the day – one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Below are the options available this year – all are single standalone sessions. You will need to select your top 4 choices of seminar (or afternoon Time Out) at the time of booking. We try to allocate your top 2 choices while spaces are available.
CAN YOU BE A "CHRISTIAN FEMINIST"?
Modern feminism tells us that we can do anything men can do, sometimes better. What does the Bible have to say? In what way may God be calling us to be “radical feminists”?
THE IDENTITY ECLIPSE
‘Who do you think you are?' We increasingly live out a constructed-identity, which can leave us emotionally vulnerable to anger, anxiety and depression. Find out more from the Bible about our created-identity and what it means to ‘be human’ in this fallen world.
PARENTING GROWN-UP CHILDREN
Now that our children are adults, how can we deal with the changing relationship and what does wise parenting look like?
WITNESS AROUND THE WATER COOLER
How do I turn chats about broken photocopiers into chats about our broken world? How do I bring Christ into the everyday? Sometimes it can seem impossible to share our faith at work. This seminar will think about how we can make Jesus part of our normal conversations.
HOW JESUS TEACHES US TO PRAY
How do I pray? What should I pray for? How should I come to God? These are great questions for Christians to be thinking about. We will explore this together, using the Lord’s
Prayer as inspiration. Note: this seminar will be particularly suited to those for whom English is their second language.
BLESSED ARE THE PERSECUTED
The Bible tells us that each part of the body of Christ should have equal concern for the other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it, so come and hear about your persecuted sisters around the world, learning from them and connecting with them through prayer.
DEMYSTIFYING THE “MISSIONARY CALL”
What is overseas mission in the 21st century? Does it have anything to do with me? Come and join the conversation about taking the gospel to the ends of the earth.
GOD’S CARE IN DEMENTIA
An opportunity to think through how to care for people with dementia. We will explore biblical perspectives, how dementia could be embraced in church life and how to keep loving relationships going.
ENGAGING WITH CULTURE
Should we watch that film? Read that book? Go clubbing? Send our kids to that party? This seminar will look at a framework for helping us make decisions as we live as strangers and aliens in this world.
THE LOST ART OF LAMENT
The Old Testament is full of Psalms and examples of believers pouring their hearts out to God in lament, yet this note is rarely struck in Christian music ministry today. This seminar hopes to help you discover this lost art.
A JOYFUL SOUND
A relaxed opportunity to learn some new songs in a music workshop and sing some old favourites.
UNDERSTANDING OLD TESTAMENT NARRATIVE
The accounts of Joseph, Ruth, Elijah and Esther are some of the best known but least understood parts of the Bible. How do these narratives fit into God’s overall plan of salvation and what tools do we need to unpack and apply them today?
Should Christians be ambitious? Discover what the Bible has to say to us about ambition – at home, at work, at church.
I’m not an addict…or am I? We can all so easily become ensnared by anything from food to people to perfectionism; but God speaks powerfully to those who struggle. We can apply biblical wisdom to help those we love who are addicts, as well as to our own hearts, bringing hope for freedom and transformation.
TIME OUT/ CRAFT
Spend the afternoon seminar session in the café, browsing the bookstall, doing some biblically-themed craft or taking time out to reflect / pray.
